After earlier declaring he wanted Eto'o sold, Guardiola has now been convinced of Eto'o's value and is expected to publicly confirm his U-turn upon the club's return from their New York visit.
For his part, Barca president Joan Laporta is convinced Eto'o still has a big role to play at the Nou Camp.
"I have very good feelings about Eto'o," said Laporta. "I am very proud of the attitude the player is showing because he is a footballer with great qualities and an excellent person with whom I maintain a great relationship.
"In the coming days we will make a final decision."
