Samuel Eto'o struck his first goal for Sampdoria in victory over Cagliari.
Samp coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and Eto'o embraced at the final whistle.
"He had a bit of a difficult start and we needed time to understand each other, because we both have strong personalities," Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia.
"Eto'o did well and allowed us to finish off the game. We played very well against an organised team and it was important to break that deadlock to open the spaces up.
"Eto'o is getting back in shape and can give us a big hand. He was a great champion and can still make the difference for us."
