Eto'o brace guides Chelsea to easy win over Schalke

Chelsea have remained at the top of their Champions League group thanks to a 3-0win over Schalke at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Two goals from Samuel Eto'o and a late Demba Ba striker allowed the Blues to move three points of the Germans at the summit of Group E after four matches.

Eto'o opened the scoring just after the half-hour mark courtesy of a massive blunder from Schalke keeper Timo Hildebrand. The Cameroon striker pounced on the ball as Hildebrand took an eternity to make his clearing kick with the deflection rolling back over the line to give the home side the ascendency.

Less than ten minutes into the second half, Eto'o added a second when he superbly controlled Willian's pass on the right side of the area before firing across Hildebrand.

Chelsea managed to wrap up proceedings seven minutes from time when substitute Demba Ba tallied his first Champions League when slotting home Frank Lampard's lofted ball.

Jose Mourinho's Blues are now in pole position in their group with two matches remaining as they prepare for their next European encounter FC Basel on November 26.
