Matthew Etherington feels Stoke City's defence is as good as any in the league.
Jonathan Woodgate, 31, has already played as many games for Stoke as he managed for Spurs in two injury-ravaged seasons before Harry Redknapp let him go on a free.
Tony Pulis snapped him up and Etherington added: "Defensively we are as good as it gets in this league. It's the best squad we've had here in recent years - without a doubt."
