Estuadiantes star Juan Sebastian Veron has dismissed talk of a return to Italy with Lazio.
The 34-year-old Argentinian played for the Biancocelesti between 1999 and 2001, winning only the third Scudetto in the club's history.
Veron said: "Last year, I could have returned to Rome, but then I didn't hear from anyone.
"Certain times they throw out names like mine to give the atmosphere a bit of a shock. Last year, they did seek me out, but I only spoke once with President Claudio Lotito.
"I told him to speak with my agent, but from that moment they didn't speak to me anymore and I haven't heard from anyone.
"If there had really been the desire to get me back it would not have ended with just a telephone call."
