Sunderland have signed Argentine defender Santiago Vergini on loan from Estudiantes La Plata via Atletico Fenix.
The 25-year old centre-back will spend the remainder of the Premier League season with the Black Cats and will arrive on Wearside from Estudiantes where he is on loan from Uruguayan side Fenix.
The former Verona and Newell's Old Boys man, who has played once for Argentina, joins fellow defensive signing Marcos Alonso at the Stadium of Light after Gus Poyet signed him from Fiorentina earlier this month.
