Estudiantes has announced defender Federico Fernandez is joining Napoli for €3 million.

The 21 year-old will join Napoli in June.

Both parties had agreed terms last week, but a hurdle had to be crossed with regard to the player's image rights.

"I am very happy that everything has gone well," Fernandez said. "Italy is the ideal country for us Argentines.

"Napoli was Maradona's team. The presence of Ezequiel Lavezzi and Jose Sosa influenced my decision a lot.

"Sosa has spoken very well of the city and the fans. We even traveled together on the plane. There was also Edi Cavani and Walter Gargano.

"The Napoli fans are very similar to the Argentine ones and this fascinates me."
