Michael Essien is waiting for his chance at Chelsea.

Essien is yet to feature in a competitive match for the Blues since returning from his loan spell at Real Madrid.

"I'm feeling very sharp and fit," he told chelseafc.com. "I haven't missed a single training session since we came back for pre-season so I feel good.

"I'm just waiting for an opportunity, and as soon as the manager needs me I'm ready to help the team."
