Espanyol are in the market for a new striker ahead of the transfer window opening January.

Cover is needed by coach Ernesto Valverde for senior forward Raul Tamudo and sports chief Paco Herrera is currently in South America seeking a knockdown signing.

Herrera will seek talks with Gremio, with which Espanyol have an informal partnership, about taking a fringe player on-loan. A deal could involve Eduardo Costa remaining with Gremio in exchange.
