Espanyol president Daniel Sanchez Llibre has confirmed he hopes to close the signing of Stuttgart striker Ewerthon today.

The Brazilian is on-loan at Stuttgart from Real Zaragoza and Espanyol have moved for him as a replacement for injured captain Raul Tamudo.

Llibre said: "There's been many names discussed in recent days, but between the clubs there is nothing signed. Everything indicates that tomorrow is the key day to closing the transfer.

"We expect on Monday to negotiate the final details and see if he (Ewerthon) can be signed and join us."
