Espanyol are keen to open new contract talks with coach Ernesto Valverde.

El Mundo Deportivo says Espanyol's board want Valverde, whose current deal expires in 2009, to lead the club into their new stadium, which they expect to enter in 2010.

Espanyol want to hand Valverde a new one-year contract extension on improved terms also as reward for the fantastic progress they have made in the last 12 months.
