Pau Lopez has turned down Brighton and Hove Albion to remain at Espanyol.

The 22-year old goalkeeper was wanted as competition for summer signing Mathew Ryan.

Lopez spent last season on loan with Tottenham Hotspur but failed to make a single appearance.

The Spaniard has started the first two La Liga games for Espanyol and he has told Diario La Grada that he will remain at the Catalan club.

"I've turned down the offer because I want to stay here. In addition, the coach has always shown me his confidence," he said.
