Espanyol have secured AZ Alkmaar defender Hector Moreno to a five-year contract.

The 23-year-old Mexico international had been under contract with AZ until the summer of 2014, but will now continue his career in the Spanish top flight.

AZ, who confirmed the news in a statement on their website, refused to disclose the transfer fee.

Moreno spent three seasons in Alkmaar, making 80 appearances and scoring six goals.
