Espanyol chief Paco Herrera is struggling to deliver signings to coach Mane this month.
A deal for Udinese midfielder Christian Obodo has fallen through, while Werder Bremen have also refused to drop their £6 million asking price for another Espanyol target Hugo Almeida. This comes after Cruz Azul refused to do business over Gerardo Torrado.
Herrera is also having to fight off interest from Boca Juniors for young goalkeeper Cristian Alvarez.
