Espanyol are furious with Barcelona after cancelling the Supercopa Catalunya.

Barca pulled out of the preseason tournament due to a busy - and lucrative - fixture list.

Espanyol CEO Joan Collet rapped: "Barcelona have shown a lack of respect for Catalan football, for Espanyol and the [Catalan Football] Federation. It is a sad day for all.

"The message that Espanyol want to send out is that we are 100 per cent committed to Catalan football.

"It seems we always have to do more than necessary to prove this and others perhaps do not do the same.

"We as a club often have to show who we are, and no one can question our commitment to Catalan football."
