Espanyol are considering a January bid for Partizan Belgrade wing-back Antonio Rukavina.
The interest of Fiorentina has kicked Espanyol into action, with sports director Paco Herrera being forced to bring forward plans to bid for Rukavina in June.
Partizan are seeking £2.5 million for Rukavina and won't sell until they find a replacement for the versatile defender.
