Espanyol chiefs have played down interest in midfielder Joan Verdu from Genoa.

Verdu, 27, is being linked with a switch to Serie AGenoa at the end of the season.

But Espanyol sports director Ramon Planes told TMW: "Genoa and Verdú? Honestly, I do not know anything. The Genoa president was in Barcelona during our last game? Yes, but they didn't come for Verdu, we have many interesting young players ..."
