Eriksson wants management job by start of season

Sven Goran Eriksson has confirmed he is hoping to land a new managerial role this summer. The former England boss was linked with the vacant post at Portsmouth but prospective owner on the South Coast, Sulaiman Al-Fahim, has said Eriksson is not on his shortlist.

Eriksson remains hopeful of returning to management and fresh reports in Friday's press suggest he could be set for Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon.

He said in The Sun: "I want to be a part of a club next season."
