Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson was delighted to hand Kelvin Etuhu his Premiership debut in their 1-1 draw with Wigan Athletic on the weekend.
He told City's website: "I had never heard of Kelvin before I came here, but he has impressed me when he has come on this season so far. He did well in the Carling Cup tie, and I was very happy with the way he coped with his first Premier League match at Wigan last Saturday.
"He showed that he can handle himself in the Premier League, he will be very useful for us. I'm confident that I can call upon other players around the squad as and when we need them, we have Jihai with all the positions he can cover and he is always ready."
