Notts County chief Sven Goran Eriksson is backing former club Manchester City to win the Premiership this season.

The former City boss is convinced that Mark Hughes and his side will break into the top four this season.

And with owner Sheikh Mansour spending £200million on players such as Gareth Barry, Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez, Sven thinks the Eastlands outfit have a chance of landing the Premier League title.

Eriksson said: "Can they win the League? Of course they can. It would be exceptional if they did, of course.

"Who knows in football? Maybe. This season, perhaps, winning it would be too good to be true.

"If you want me to put £100 on Manchester City winning the league straight away, well, no I wouldn't.

"But they will win the league sooner or later."
