Eriksson backing Fulham boss Hodgson for England

Sven Goran Eriksson says Fulham boss Roy Hodgson could take the England job in the future.

A 2-1 win over Hamburg on Thursday took them to the Europa League final, their first ever European showpiece.

Reports have now suggested that he could be in the running for the England job in the future, with many believing he would thrive in that role.

Former England manager, and now Ivory Coast national coach, Eriksson shares the opinion that Hodgson would be an ideal candidate for the post, should he wish to take it.

"Why not? You have to ask why not?" said the Swede, speaking to Sky Sports News' chief news reporter Bryan Swanson at a promotional event for sponsors Castrol in London.

"He is English as well so you don't have that problem to criticise.

"Of course Roy also has huge experience. For many, many years he has managed in many parts of the world. I wish him good luck, and good luck for the final."
