Eriksson backing England invite for Beckham: Great idea

Sven Goran Eriksson says crocked LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham will be a great addition to England's World Cup squad as a non-playing member.

The Swede, who managed England at the 2002 and 2006 World Cups where David Beckham was captain both times, said: "It’s a great idea."
Eriksson continued: "If Beckham is in the squad he will take a lot of the tension away. I had never thought about it as an idea but it makes sense."
