The former Ajax midfielder’s €12 million move to Spurs makes him the biggest transfer in Danish football history.

"I expect it will be very different, but how, I do not know yet. First I need to see how we play," Eriksen told Sports. "I think I will have to get used to everything, so I do not expect I will play every game in the beginning. But on the other hand, I do not know exactly what the coach in the first few weeks has planned for me.

"Tottenham has taken me as an attacking midfielder and told me that I will have to fight for my place a lot.

"There are many good players for my position, but of course I hope that everything will turn out in my favor.

"I think Tottenham and I will fit well because it is a team that wants to play football. The pace in the Premier League is higher than in the Eredivisie, but that's good for my development. I hope to debut as soon as possible."
