EPL: New Season Predictions

As another season kicks off, here's our predictions for the Premier League

Premier League Winner

When it comes to predicting this year's Premier League title, many fans, bookies, and pundits alike have got their money on Manchester City. And if you are a person who likes to beat the bookies, then like me, you be matched betting all season long.

So Why Manchester City? They've got the strongest starting XI in the league, the most well-equipped squad, and a strong manager to boot. They've also used the transfer window to strengthen their squad more than any of their rivals and have lots of potential to grow.

And, we may only be one game into the new season, but, so far, Pep Guardiola's side are living up to expectations. Having won the majority of their pre-season friendlies, the team went on to secure their first three points of the season, beating Brighton and Hove Albion 2 – 0.

They might have missed out on the title last season but, unless something goes badly wrong, we've got our money on them walking away with it this time round.

Top Four

Behind Man City, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are predicted to fill the remaining spots in the top four.

Chelsea might not have had a great summer but they've got a strong manager in the form of Antonio Conte, whose managerial abilities should not be underestimated. But it's worth noting that they could struggle if they don't bring in reinforcements, as per Conte's demands.

Thanks to their strong youth team and existing squad, Tottenham have got the enviable capacity to keep growing, even without new signings. However, they'll need to quickly adapt to their new Wembley home if they want to get off to a good start.

Liverpool and Arsenal are also in the running.

Bottom Three

At the other end of the table, Huddersfield, Brighton, and Burnley look like favourites to go down, with Stoke and Swansea City not fairing much better.

There's no denying that Huddersfield pushed the boat out with some of their summer signings, but that on it's own won't necessarily be enough to keep them in top flight football and their lack of Premier League experience could cost them dearly. They did, however, win their first game of the season with a respectable 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace, so maybe they'll pull something out of the bag?

Their promotion to the Premiership may have been something from a fairy tale, but it's unlikely that Brighton's squad is strong enough to stand up against their big name rivals, meaning they could make a swift return to the championship. Their season hasn't got off to a great start with a 2 – 0 defeat at the hands of league favourites Man City.

Having regressed towards the end of last season, Burnley are at serious risk of ending up in the bottom three this time round. And, having sold key players such as Michael Kane and Andre Grey, their squad has arguably weakened over the course of the summer. If they lose Sean Dyche during the season as predicted, there could be no coming back for the team.

Newcastle are also at risk of relegation, having failed to strengthen their squad significantly over the summer and losing their first match of the season 2 – 0 at home to Tottenham. Rafa Benitez's future at the club is also looking uncertain – a further blow to the Magpies.
