Jose Enrique will play through the pain barrier to save his Liverpool career.

The Mirror says Enrique is determined to prove his worth to Brendan Rodgers after revealing he has been playing injured.

Enrique damaged a knee in training before the start of Liverpool's Premier League campaign and has been playing and training through the pain barrier for the last six weeks.

"It's something behind my knee, and I have had to be very careful with it," he said. "I've been trying to play with it but it's not 100 per cent.

"I felt it in training before the opening day of the season at West Brom and since then it has been very bad. Hopefully the injection will sort it out."
