The Barclays Asia Trophy kicks off in Beijing this week with English Premier League clubs West Ham, Tottenham and Hull City preparing for their upcoming season.

Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan round out the teams to contest the biennial event which will be held at the Workers Stadium.

West Ham face Spurs and Hull take on Beijing tomorrow, with the winners and losers to match up on Friday.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has fond memories of the tournament, having won it with Portsmouth in 2007.

"I really enjoyed the last time I was involved in this competition with Portsmouth two years ago," said Redknapp.

Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola was hoping for a good performance from his charges.

"This pre-season, and the matches we are going to play in China, are going to be very important for us because it will allow us to prepare for the new season in the right way," the Italian said.
