England World Cup qualifier to be screened exclusively on internet

England fans face the prospect of having to turn to the internet if they want to see the next World Cup qualifier against Ukraine.

The Daily Mail says fans now have to get their heads around the next match in Ukraine being shown pay-per-view on the internet through a lack of interest from the TV companies despite Fabio Capello's side defending a 100 per cent record.

Selling agents Kentaro, who have only received a £1.3m offer from TV channel Five, believe streaming the game through technology partner Perform via national newspaper websites will be more profitable and the FA, who have had measly bids for the FA Cup rights held by Setanta, will be watching closely.

For the project to work, Rooney and Co will need to attract a take-up of more than 300,000 viewers ready to pay a likely £5 fee.
