England U21 coach Stuart Pearce was pleased for Sunderland striker Connor Wickham after his goal in their 1-1 draw with Norway.

It was the £8million Sunderland striker's first goal for the U-21s and his first at any level for 11 months.

Pearce said: "The big problem is Connor hasn't played a great deal of first team football.

"Physically, this is quite demanding. The good thing is football of a good standard will benefit Connor and his club. I'm pleased for him."
