England U20 coach Eastick defends squad quality

England U20 coach Brian Eastick insists their talent is deep enough to cover the absences of several Premiership starlets.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter is angry after Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea stopped their stars joining the Three Lions squad for the Under-20 World Cup.

Wonderkids Daniel Sturridge, Jack Wilshere and Danny Welbeck were all left out at the request of their clubs.

However, Eastick has refused to get embroiled in the bitter row.

He said: "We do have a number of players missing but the important people are the players who are here.

"We have a very dedicated bunch of players here and we've had 12 days of preparation for the competition.

"They have worked very hard and there is a really good team spirit about the squad.

"Hopefully it's a group of players that will grow as the tournament progresses.

"All of my focus and concentration is on the players that we have here and we have a good group and some good ability."
