England skipper Steven Gerrard says the current national squad are keen to assist troubled former star Paul Gascoigne.
The ex-England, Tottenham and Newcastle United midfielder has been willingly admitted to a treatment centre in the USA to continue his battle with alcoholism and Gerrard said the players are up for doing what they can to help him through these hard times.
"The players have made it clear to the FA we want to help," Gerrard told reporters.
Gascoigne has battled problems with drugs and alcohol since his playing days and recently look dishevelled and slurred his words at a sportsman's night in his honour in Northampton after seemingly looking well for a number of months.
