England send SOS to West Ham striker Carroll

West Ham United striker Andy Carroll is in line for an England recall.

The on-loan Liverpool striker, 23, returned from a hamstring injury as a sub in Monday’s 2-1 win at QPR.

And that was enough to impress onlooking England manager Roy Hodgson, who names his squad tomorrow for the World Cup qualifiers with San Marino and Poland.

An FA insider told The Sun: “There was only one reason why Hodgson was at the game — that was to see the best young striker in the country and to check out his fitness.

“It’s no coincidence that he stayed for the entire match.”
