England manager Roy Hodgson was happy to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain make such a positive impact in the 2-2 draw with Brazil at the Maracana in Rio on Sunday.
The 19-year old Arsenal young gun replaced Glen Johnson just after the hour-mark with Phil Jones pushing back to a more defensive role and the move paid off when he struck a superb equaliser in the 68th minute which delighted his boss.
"He was very lively. Phil Jones was doing an excellent job but is really more of a defender playing in midfield," said Hodgson.
"Alex gets on the ball and gets turned around, he added another dimension and got his reward by scoring a very good goal."
