England's Hodgson not concerned about mental state of Liverpool's Gerrard

England manager Roy Hodgson has made it clear that he has absolutely no problems whatsoever with the mentality of captain Steven Gerrard.

The 33-year old Liverpool skipper was unsuccessful in his bid to win his first Premier League title with the Reds missing out by two points to Manchester City.

Some suggest that Gerrard's mental state may be questionable leading up to the World Cup but Hodgson has complete faith that the Three Lions midfielder will quickly recover from the domestic heart break to lead his country with pride.

"I have no concerns whatsoever over Steven. I'm very disappointed for him of course. I'm very sad that he feels himself responsible for the mistake he made," said Hodgson in relation to Gerrard's slip which lead to a goal in a late-season loss to Chelsea which helped City clinch the title.

"But Steven is extremely mentally strong, and extremely proud. He loves Liverpool but he loves England and I don't have any doubt that he won't be as good as he ever has been in this World Cup."
