England boss Roy Hodgson admits he will not put Jack Wilshere through the ringer on Wednesday night.
The Three Lions host Scotland at Wembley in a friendly and Hodgson has promised Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that he will not play the 21-year old midfielder for 90 minutes as he continues to get back to full fitness from ongoing ankle problems.
"I have not had the benefit of Jack Wilshere for a qualifying match or an important match so we are pleased to have him back," Hodgson said.
"We are aware of the fact that Arsene is careful with him at Arsenal and I will be careful with him as well."
Wenger hopes he can have Wilshere available to play a full match in the Gunners' season opener against Aston Villa on Saturday.
