England players on £400,000-a-man to win World Cup

Fabio Capello's players are on a massive £400,000-a-man to win the World Cup next year.

The Sun says talks are ongoing between the players and the FA about bonuses for next summer's tournament in South Africa.

But the governing body have indicated they are willing to shell out £5.5million if the Three Lions are successful.

Bobby Moore and his 1966 winners got £1,000 each for lifting the trophy at Wembley.

The 23-man squad which takes part in the finals will split the bonus pot on a pro-rata basis depending on how many games each plays.

That means that the core of the team could easily see their share rise to nearer £400,000.

The sum on offer to the stars is still small beer compared to the windfall of up to £60m which the FA could earn should the team go all the way.
