England make it 10 on the trot with comfortable win in Lithuania

Roy Hodgson's team have created history by becoming the first English side to complete a European Championship qualification campaign with a 100% record.

The Three Lions comfortably accounted for Lithuania 3-0 in Vilnius to make ti 1-0 wins from 10 fixtures in their lead-up to the UEFA tournament in France next summer.

Ross Barkley opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark when he found space well outside the area before unleashing a well-struck effort which flew past Giedrius Arlauskis with the help from a deflection and the left upright.

England were two to the good in the 35th minute when Harry Kane fired goal-ward to see his effort cannon into the post and ricochet back into the goal off hapless Watford gloveman Arlauskis.

In the 62nd minute, the contest - which was the first between these two sides on Lithuanian soil - was wrapped up when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain received a pass from Kyle Walker on the right side of the area before crushing his effort into the back of the net via the palms of Arlauskis.

The win saw Hodgson's side finish nine points clear of second-placed Switzerland at the top of the Group E table with 30 points from a possible 30, and a goal difference of plus 28, having scored 31 and conceded just 3.
