England legend Banks fears for keeper depth beyond Man City's Hart

England goalkeeping legend Gordon Banks is concerned about the lack of depth in the current ranks.

Banks feels Manchester City's Joe Hart needs more competition.

"We're very thin on the ground for England goalkeepers now," he told the Sunday Express.

"Joe Hart is good, but there's nobody pressing him and that's not a good thing.

"I'm not exaggerating; when I played you could count maybe five goalkeepers that could have come in and done a good job for England. That's why every game I had to keep on my toes.

"You felt the competition and Alf Ramsey made you sure you thought about that. He'd make a point of thanking all the players after a match when we were ready to go home, shaking our hands at the reception.

"One day I said, 'I'll see you Alf', and he replied, 'Will you?' In other words, you weren't picking yourself for the next game. He wanted you to go back and keep playing well for your club to make sure you were selected."
