England coach Hodgson fuming over big match Premier League fixtures

England coach Roy Hodgson is furious over the Premier League's new season fixtures.

The Daily Mail says despite representations from the England manager to Premier League officials, Arsenal face Tottenham and Liverpool play Manchester United on Saturday August 31, six days before two key internationals.

One, if not both, clashes are likely to be moved to Sunday September 1 when Sky and BT Sport announce their live broadcasting schedules on July 8.

The four clubs boast 21 England players between them and they could all be picked to play in traditionally high-risk matches before England's qualifiers against Moldova on September 6 and Ukraine four days later.

Premier League officials declined to comment last night but they would argue that the integrity of the league is their priority.
