England coach Roy Hodgson is facing a seismic selection challenge.
Hodgson this week weighs up whether to bring back Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand or Chelsea's John Terry.
The Mail on Sunday says Hodgson names his squad on Thursday for the end-of-season friendlies against the Republic of Ireland and Brazil.
He is expected to meet his coaches early this week to discuss the issue and foremost in his thoughts will be whether to return to the old guard of either Terry or Ferdinand.
If either returns it would signal that he would be a part of the autumn World Cup qualifiers.
But if not, it is likely that their England careers will be over.
