England boycott could potentially cost future World Cup appearances

Relations between the United Kingdom and Russia are reaching all-time lows.

The two nations are involved in a dispute relating to the poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter in Salisbury.

England accuses Russia of being responsible for the attack, which could have put the lives of many British citizens at risk. The attack was on British soil, which is also concerning for the UK government.

There are some calls for England to boycott the summer World Cup in Russia.

However, Sky Sports News believes that if the FA were to go ahead with any type of boycott, they would face banning from future international tournaments.

The governing body is within its right to exclude any nation that pulls out of a World Cup from future editions of the tournament. England may not even get a chance to qualify for Qatar 2022 if they pull out of Russia 2018.
