England boss thrilled with leaders Gerrard and Lampard

England boss Roy Hodgson says he is not at all worried about the leaders within the squad.

Hodgson today announced a 25-man group for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland and made it clear that he is completely happy with the leaders he has in the Three Lions setup despite the retirement of John Terry and the non-selection of Rio Ferdinand.

"We have enough leaders," he said. "Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are the captain and vice-captain.

"We also have people like Phil Jagielka, Michael Carrick, Joleon Lescott, Ashley Cole and Glen Johnson."

And Hodgson is also looking for some fresh direction from some of the less experienced players he has selected.

"Who knows which of these younger players emerge as leaders," he added.

"One can only hope there will be one or two who at the moment are in the early stages of their careers, who will emerge and show the same leadership qualities as John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard."
