Liverpool legend Dietmar Hamann is the latest ex-player to provide his backing to Jurgen Klopp to take over the reins at Anfield.

Hamman also claims that the honest nature of Klopp would be the perfect fit for Merseyside's working class mentality.

He said: "With Jurgen, you get what you see and hear – he is not the most diplomatic, he really does show his emotions and talk straight; and that is why people really take to him.

"I think England, and Liverpool, is the perfect fit for him, because of his honesty, and because of the way he sets up his teams.

"I know the Liverpool fans will take to him instantly, because it is a working class town, and they like honesty. He's got it.

"It is very important at a club like Liverpool that the fans take to the manager, and I think he can create that spark, that emotion, and give people hope again, which I think has been lost in the last 12 months."
