End of an era for Sydney trio

Saturdays night's 'dead rubber' match between Sydney FC and the Newcastle Jets will see the end of an area for three Sky Blues players. Iain Fyfe, Robbie Middleby and Jacob Timpano will all make their final appearance in a Sydney shirt in what could be described as a changing of the guard.

Looking back, Timpano recalls his early days at the club with fondness.

"It's been great," said Timpano. "I've been here from day one and was fortunate to be part of the team that won the first ever A-League title and that will always be a highlight for me. I will take a lot away from the club."

Timpano also said that he didn't feel he was leaving the club in the lurch as they have a fantastic youth structure and many budding stars coming through the ranks.

"The boys that have come in have taken their opportunity and done very well," added Timpano.

"They obviously need to stay consistent and back up what they have done in the first year, but with Steve O'Connor as the youth coach hopefully they can go on and spend a few years with the club and get Sydney back to where it belongs."
