Emirates Stadium should be named after Arsenal boss Wenger - Newcastle's Pardew

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew believes Arsenal's home stadium should be named after Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman continues to cop plenty of abuse from sections of Gunners supporters as well as the media but Pardew is of the belief that he should be the subject of praise rather than negativity.

"This is a guy that's done an unbelievable job, and in some ways the stadium should be named after him. If he hadn't been as astute in the transfer market as he's been they couldn't have competed in the Champions League with that stadium debt," said the Toon boss ahead of his side's trip to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

"He's done an absolutely marvellous job. He's had a couple of difficult results recently, but Arsene has those as every manager does. He'll get through it.

"His treatment (from Arsenal fans) in that train station (last weekend at Stoke) was was total disrespect, and I'm sure every Arsenal fan was ashamed of that. They may be looking to put that right on Saturday night."
