Emery fights for first Arsenal signing as Mislintat prefers Doucoure over Nzonzi

Unai Emery is set for his first transfer battle with Arsenal's recruitment staff.

According to the Watford Observer, the Spaniard wants to sign Sevilla midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who will play for France at the World Cup.

But the report claims head of recruitment Sven Mislintat views Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure as the perfect signing for Emery's midfield.

Doucoure enjoyed a fine season with the Hornets and has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Emery worked with Nzonzi at Sevilla and would be comfortable bringing him to the Emirates.

Nzonzi spent six years playing in England with Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City before Emery brought him to Spain.
