Blackburn Rovers midfielder Brett Emerton has expressed an interest in ending his career in Australia, potentially with the West Sydney franchise. Emerton believes there is enormous potential for a club in the West Sydney region and would love to play in his home town when his English Premier League career is over.
The Socceroo has a contract at Ewood Park until the end of 2012 but says he may be back in Australia after that.
"Provided the support was there, it would work,'' Emerton said of the West Sydney franchise.
"I definitely want to finish my career back in Australia.
"If there was a team on the Western side of Sydney then it would be even more perfect. Coming back to Australia, I've always said I'd like to give something back to the game back home.''
"I've got a few more years on my contract here so I'll probably come back after I finish that.''
