Emerton goal helps Blackburn Rovers stay afloat

Brett Emerton's second goal in two games helped Blackburn Rovers remain in the English Premier League for another season.

The Australian international volleyed home sweetly from 25 yards seven minutes before half-time as the Lancashire club held off a fast-finishing Wolves to win 3-2 at the Molineux on the final day of the season.

The goal was Emerton's second in as many games following his strike against champions Manchester United last week and it went a long way to helping Steve Kean's men finish four points clear of the drop zone.

Emerton made 30 appearances for the Rovers this season, scoring four goals and being one of the club's most consistent players in the last few weeks.
