Former Bolton striker Johan Elmander claims he was played out of position with the Trotters and because of this was unable to play to his full potential. The Swede allowed his contract to run down and has since signed for Turkish giants Galatasaray, where he is hoping to be deployed as an out-and-out frontman.
"It was really tough," Elmander told Alingas Tidning on his time with Bolton.
"It is difficult when you think you are doing something well and then you get taken away from that position and placed somewhere where you can't play.
"You have to do what is best for the team, and I tried to do that.
"I thought I would be given another chance to prove myself, but I never did."
