Elmander leaves Bolton after contract expires

Johan Elmander has departed Bolton after his contract expired.

The Swedish striker has confirmed he will not return to Reebok Stadium next season as he is looking for a new challenge.

"I have had three good years at Bolton, especially the last 18 months, but the time is right for a new challenge," Elmander, who scored 12 goals last season, told bwfc.com.

"The manager [Owen Coyle] is one of the best I have worked with and he helped me re-ignite my hunger for the game."

Reports suggest that 29-year old Elmander, who landed at Bolton in June 2008, will soon sign for Turkish club Galatasaray after recently agreeing a deal in principle.
