Burnley midfielder Wade Elliott has urged fans not to panic over their poor preseason results.
"You can never read too much into pre-season results and performances," Elliott told the Lancashire Telegraph.
"I remember playing at Bournemouth and we trained twice in the day and then played a game in the evening and got battered against a local non-league team.
"The fans were slaughtering us, but come the season we were a lot better for it and we started the season really well.
"It's exactly the same. The results don't matter. If you go home and think about where you are; we've all been around long enough now that we know our bodies and our capabilities and where we've got to be for the Stoke game.
"The games we play in pre-season give you a gauge of where you are and what you've got to do.
"As long as we think about what's still to come and what we need to do individually I'm sure we'll all be ready for the Stoke game."
